How to Apply for Florida Licensure

Required Documents

  • FAMA Electrolysis & Laser Diploma with a minimum of 320 hours of education
  • FAMA Transcripts
  • Photo ID
  • High School Diploma (with translation & evaluation, if applicable)
  • Passing Grade on IBEC Examination (Prometrics will automatically report your passing grade to the state)
  • License Application Fee of $205.00

Registering for Your IBEC Examination:

  1. Go to the Prometrics website by clicking on this link: www.prometric.com/en-us/clients/aea/Pages/landing.aspx.
  2. Click Schedule
  3. Read the provided information, click confirm and consent
  4. When asked if you are preapproved, select “No”
  5. Be sure to select the correct exam from the drop-down list. IBEC Electrology, Laser and IPL Exam-FL
  6. Enter your Zip Code and desired date range for testing
  7. Choose your desired test location, date and time
  8. Fill in the required information, and pay the $180.00 Examination Fee with a valid credit or debit card
  9. Prometrics will email you a confirmation of your registration.

NOTE: If you must cancel or reschedule the exam, you will need your PROMETRIC Confirmation Number to do so through its scheduling system. (PROMETRIC does charge a fee for cancelling or rescheduling the exam.)

Applying for Your Professional License:

  1. Go to http://www.floridahealth.gov/
  2. Under Licensing and Regulation, Select Electrologist
  3. Choose Apply For A License
  4. Click Create New Applicant Account
  5. Fill in the required information and upload required documents. When prompted to select a school, select FAMA’s former name, Danik Beauty Academy
  6. Pay the $205.00 Licensure Fee with a valid credit or debit card
  7. Upon application approval, Florida Department of Health will email you a PDF of your license.

License Renewal:

As a licensed Electrologist, you will be required to take a minimum of 20 Hours of Continued Education every two years. Please contact FAMA when the time comes.
